Bike, house, hot weather.

Just a brief update – I have the bike running like a top. It was no single thing, but a mix of many things – I adjusted the air intake/gas ratio, petcock flow rate, there were two slightly out of sync floats in the carburetor, and I had pretty serious carbon spoiling on my spark plugs after only a year. If that means nothing to you, it means something like this: too much gas, not enough air, too much soot to make sparks.

So, bike runs great – problem solved, right? Oh wait. We took the bike off the trailer this afternoon and the rear tire was TOTALLY flat. [insert expletives here] I plan to inflate it and have high hopes that it was just the hoisting it on the centre stand that deflated it. The tire is less than a year old. Sigh, we were hoping for a cheap fix, and so far we’ve only spent 10$ for new spark plugs, but a new tire is about 50$ (the type of tires this bike has is tubes AND tubeless tire). Plus it is more time.

I made good progress on organising the garage today – I know where just about all of my tools are. Plus Wendy organised the basement this week and is clearing the steps to the basement of staples and nails. So even though I’m not doing the things I said I would (laundry room and bathroom), progress is being made.

Excellent concert last night with a decent audience. Church tomorrow – things to do and I’m liturgist, so busy busy. But then I have all afternoon off, and I’ll be home Monday with Jan.

Jan is changing, and it is so much fun to watch. I had him completely squealing with laughter tonight. Wendy came in from another part of the house because she had to see what was happening. It is so fun to see him respond to happy things, to see that he’s enjoying himself. What a perfect little guy.

more soon. pray for my parents who are moving very soon, and for my father, who i love, and who deserves better than radiation and chemo.
