Vote for the house of our dreams!

So apparently even though we have only had our house on the market for what, 4 days, we will have 2 offers by the end of the day!!! God is gracious indeed!! However, then becomes the issue of which house do we buy??? So I am asking folks to vote on which one. They have very similar features: large-ish yard, hot tub, big rooms, fireplace, quiet neighbourhood. The difference is that the one on Broderick needs WORK and is a bit cheaper and the one on Bonvale doesn’t need hardly any work (the hot tub works). Thus, the one on Broderick we could really put our own stamp on, and the one on Bonvale would be easy. (Keeping in mind that I only have 11 days of pregnancy left, although I am beginning to be convinced that this is actually a never ending condition I will live with for the rest of my life.) The one on Broderick is literally around the corner from very good friends and the one on Bonvale is not. The one on Broderick is in foreclosure which means a) paperwork might be harder/more time consuming b)not negotiable in price. The one on Bonvale is not in foreclosure. I just can’t decide!!! ARGH!! help me out by voting. Here are the links:

I like the first one…(not much work) and not many stairs. I think I have a stairs phobia. Either I have fallen or Norah has fallen one to many times. They are both nice homes, but the Bonvale has a better feel. The Broderick has a nicer kitchen. Hard choices. Good luck. Go with the gut.

I much prefere the house on Bonvale Drive. It has a lot more curb appeal, will require a lot less maintenance and even though it is a bit more expensive ($5000 is not a lot considering all things) the taxes are less. it looks like you will be able to move in and enjoy instead of having to do a lot of work right away. That’s also appealing as you guys are going to be busy very shortly.

I vote for Bonvale. Based on the pictures, it’s got a nice back yard, ample space. Nice rec-room for Baby Banga to romp in. Kitchen in both houses are smallish, though I imagine you guys are used to that. Plus it’s a shorter drive for us. 🙂 Besides, Foreclosure House might come with bitter evictees who will attack your kneecaps with a tire-iron for having the temerity to buy “their” house.

However, I might switch my vote to Broderick if (and only if) you keep the portrait of the reclining leopard in whatever the heck that room is. (Basement rec-room?) That’s SEXY.

our basic criteria – quiet neighbourhood, more living space, good for entertaining, nice yard, and affordable. all of these places will go for less than listed, and the taxes are all going to change, and we can make that happen immediately, it turns out. revote if you care. 🙂

The big home on mercury drive has a lot of exposed wood especially at the back of the house. This means a L O T of maintenance in the future. You would be much better off getting a house with some other kind of siding on it. Also if the taxes don’t change, that means an extra $400. plus on top of your payments every month. I personally think that the other two are way larger than you need.. remember it all has to be kept clean. Try to find something in all brick or vinyl or even aluminum siding. It will mean much less work in the future. Any exposed wood will in time look awful, and then you’ll want to cover it up with some other kind of siding. Think about it. give me a call
