houses and change

So, we made an offer. We made a low-ball offer on the house on Mercury Drive (http://www.cressyeverett.com/lid=24500381&temp=100)

Thanks for all your comments and emails, they were indeed taken in consideration. Here are some of our reasons:

1. It really hit a lot of our criteria – nice yard, quiet neighbourhood, lots of living space (not huge bedrooms), and so forth.

2. it is the cheapest and smallest of the ones we were looking at. We low-balled our offer too, and we’re hoping for good things.

3. This house has excellent infrastructure – new furnace, a/c, roof, pump/plumbing, windows. It looks like CRAP right now, but it is all cosmetic. paint, some flooring, and it will list for a lot more money. If we end up with another job in 2 years I’m pretty confident we will still be able to turn this house over for a profit.

4. it will end up being a pretty cool house, no question about it.

Now we just have to wait to hear back from the seller who is in South Carolina. Our bid expires at the end of the day Wednesday, so they’ve got to move.

In other news, we’ve been packing/cleaning already! All our books are packed, and I have some of the basement packed up ready to go. In cleaning up our closet I rolled all the spare change we’ve been throwing into mason jars for the past couple of years. Turns out we had 257$ in change in our closet! I’ll take a heavy ride to the bank tomorrow, that pays for more than half of our upcoming house inspections!

Okay, that’s’ it for tonight. I’m going to be blogging daily, my plan is to do so early in the morning – I’ll let you know about house and if Wendy goes into labour.
