of irises and habs

So our next door neighbour has informed us that since we are moving, she is putting up a privacy fence.  No big deal I think.  Except all the irises along the one side of the flowerbed are actually encroaching on the fenceline.  Sigh.  I mean, I know I wanted to take some irises to the new house, but I was going to be subtle about it.  There is nothing subtle about the large gaping trench that is now the whole side of the flowerbed.  So I hope the new buyers don’t become grumpy about this, but what can I do.  It was truly glorious to be outside digging in the dirt, however, I must say.  It is actually beautiful weather here, although I hear it is supposed to snow tomorrow night.  (Can you believe!???) The other thing I must say is that if digging up a hundred irises doesn’t make me go into labour, then I’m thinking this pregnancy is a permanent condition.  I will admit that now I am finished, I can barely move, but that doesn’t qualify as labour, unfortunately.

Since I can barely move, I am sitting and watching Hockey.  We recently(ish) got slightly-more-than-basic cable and there is a channel that shows Hockey!!!  So there have been some good games on lately what with the playoffs and all.  Right now I am looking at Caps and Flyers, not my favourite teams or anything, but that’s the only game on.  As I write, Flyers are up by one and Ottawa is being bludgeoned by Pitt.  Sigh.  On the other hand….. can I just rave and brag and sing the praises of my Habs???!!!!!  Yes!!  Who is the number one team in the conference??  Yes!!!  I am so excited.  David can do nothing but grump about the Leafs; he swears every team he roots for, fails.  I do think the Leafs are long long overdue for some major overhauls in personnel etc.  Or something.  (oh  my gosh, Flyers score again.)  I’m also excited that there will be good things to watch while I will apparently be the human cow for the next several weeks.  Oh AND, Notre Dame’s hockey team made it into the frozen 4 and beat Michigan in overtime last night!!!  Yay!!  They play Boston College tomorrow night I think.  It was on past my bedtime, but I kept waking up and asking if they had won yet.  Pretty exciting.  This is the first time ever, maybe?  Not sure.Iris rhizomes
