We Went for a Walk!!
OH my goodness! I had almost forgotten what nice weather was like! I mean, I like to say that I’m all in favour of snow and cold and general Canadian goodness, but still, it has been really cold for a long time. Apparently this has been the longest cold in a long time. I looked for local stats and couldn’t find any, but I know there are some saying that we broke records this winter. Therefore, we went for a walk and I actually unzipped my light jacket because I was so toasty. Can you believe! We went with Jeff and Peter (and lance) and ended up back at their house (of course) to hear all the latest news from the ladies. Kristopher won a gold medal for his jazz band playing! wow! Here are some action shots of Jeff:
Ha. He makes me chuckle. Here is a not-so action shot of us ladies: and I dare not put a shot, action or otherwise of Sara up, but she was there too along with Anna in shorts and woolly boots. ha.
There has been little going on lately except for the usual work and church. This is kind of nice, in a way, since there has been so much trauma or at least life-changing events this year. Doing the plain-old routine is just fine. There hasn’t been a tonne of progress on the house, which is fine. I mean, there has been progress, but it isn’t really anything that makes good photos, I should say. Did you want a close up of sanded drywall? Yeah, not so exciting. It is sort of exciting to us because that means that we just need a bit more plaster, sanding and then we can paint! Then comes beams, then lights.
Then we pause this room for a minute or 10 and we work on a different room. We can’t decide whether to do the basement or the closet. Please vote for your fave. Here are the advantages: Basement: We carpet it and child-proof it and all toys and children (visitors) hang out down there. It can be total mayhem and who will care? It is a huge, safe, run-around space. It would be really easy to do. Closet: Jan is currently sleeping in the closet in our room. Getting him into his own room would mean more sleep for us (I hope) since we wouldn’t wake up at every peep. Also, we could put our clothes in our closet instead of walking down the hall into the freezing pit of doom (the closet in his real room). Here are the disadvantages: Basement: It doesn’t seem as vital, somehow. No one sees it. It is at the bottom of stairs so I’d have to supervise every minute anyway just like I do now. We don’t have that many little friends over to make it super important. Closet: It would be a lot more work because there are no shelves, hooks, hanging things. Nothing. It would have to be plastered, sanded, painted, shelves installed etc. It would need a floor, which would essentially require the floor in the bedroom to be done at the same time, which would mean plastering, sanding, painting in the bedroom. Sigh. I just can’t decide. Which do you think?
