A cottage weekend

Wendy and I have a couple of friends who have cottages on Lake Michigan.  They are, it turns out, very generous friends who offer to let us use their cottage.  Thanks, George and Lucie, it was fun.

The weather was less than perfect – it was VERY cold and EXTREMELY windy – but the newly renovated cottage was warm and comfortable.  We did go for walks on the beach, Friday we even went bare-foot.  By mid-Saturday we had feeling in our feet again.

Quite a few friends joined us at the cottage, which made it all the more enjoyable.  I’ve attached photos below; they mostly portray the general chaos that was the weekend.  It was a good chance to get to know people better and to relax and enjoy one another.  And we ate. A lot.  Ruth and John and Wendy and I polished off about three pounds of ribs on Friday night.  Yummy.

Jan thought the beach was super-cool.  He was so excited to walk around on, and crawl in the sand that he didn’t seem to mind the cold at all.  He also seemed determined to get into the lake, but as it was only about 38 degrees faranheit, we decided not to let him.  We’re excited about going later in the season to the lake so he can play in the water.
