A quick one from the deck

This morning we’re able to sit out on the deck and enjoy a delicious fruit salad that Wendy made.  Jan, as per usual, is well rested and jolly this morning.  He’s carrying his toys around the deck, and babbling up a storm.  It looks like he may actually have teeth after all!  The trouble is, I think about six are going to come through at once, all on his upper, all at the front.  Could be a tense week upcoming…

Wendy’s school has graduation today.  Then Wendy and I will be going to about a dozen graduation parties.  We get to know the students fairly well – Wendy much moreso as she sees almost all the students in the classroom at one point or another in their six years at Trinity.  I only know a few through the chamber choir.  It amazes me how much it means to these teenagers that we show up at their parties.  It makes for a busy and tiring day – we’ll see how many we get to, Jan will need to have a nap (the perfect excuse?).

Wendy’s School, Trinity School, is in bad financial shape.  Lots of schools and businesses (and individuals) are, but yesterday one of Wendy’s colleagues, a woman who had been at the school for twelve years, was let go; the given reason was finances.  Tough day for her, and it makes everyone there question their job security.

Some pictures of Jan coming later today or tomorrow.
