A Quickie from work

First, the laundry room is now trimmed out, and needs only caulking, paint, and flooring (the flooring will happen this winter).  We’re excited to see some of these things coming to [near] completion.  Since Wendy is fully capable of painting, she’ll take that job on when she’s finished with summer camp (she’s teaching the little kids this week and next).

So now I move my attention back to the beams in the family room.  Once the beams are up, I’m thinking we’ll work on our closet next, so we can get our clothes out of Jan’s closet.  It would be more convenient to not have to worry about waking him up whenever we want something from the closet.  We’re going to line the closets with cedar, and then do a custom hanging system – to make the best use of the space as possible.

Following that, we’re going to fix drywall/paint/put in flooring in the rest of the upstairs.  That won’t take long, a couple days to do drywall repair, a few days of painting, and a few days of flooring.  Exciting!

Then, we’ll to the trim in the whole house, beginning downstairs with trim, chair-rail, and crown moulding.  good times.

At church this is the “slow” season.  While not a lot of things are happening  right now at church, we’re planning like you can’t believe.  There is also going to be another change in our sanctuary installation in a couple of weeks, it is big and involved, I’m still figuring out how some of it will happen.  It involves four large banners, shaped almost like sails, the largest of which is 24 feet high and 10 feet wide.  Fortunately I have someone on the team that is willing to do the sewing.  I’m going to dye the fabric.

We’re also planning to work up a concert series at church, and add an additional alternative service – one that is Indie rock meets Taizé style. It is intended to reach deeper into our student community, and I think we’ll be successful.  We’re working on grants right now – equipment and bands are expensive.

Jan is, it appears, getting both his front teeth on top right now.  They look big and sore, and though he’s a jolly guy, he’s clearly hurting.  He’s waking up at night very upset and sore.  Poor guy.
