Finally some photos!!
I know I said that I would update the blog and add photos and then I never did. But, to make up for it, I have loads for this post! It seems as though every time we post photos or bother to blog it is because we have just been at a cottage. This makes it seems like we go there all the time. We don’t really go that often, but we do go on occasion and it’s just so scenic along the shore of lake Michigan that it’s hard not to take loads of photos. We had such a good time and were so relaxed. We are very thankful to have been allowed the opportunity.
We saw herds of deer and even something hunting/chasing them (wolf? coyote?). We took super chilly walks on the beach and not so chilly walks through the woods. David and Kathryn Anderson nearly got arrested (ha ha, not really, but they thought they would be) for trespassing at the new “pods” with the copper roofs down the beach a ways. We scouted out vacant properties for when we make a million and can purchase one. ha ha again. We ate loads of good food, played silly games and read and read. The rest of the gang discovered a book on the bookcase after I went to bed. Something about the definitive book of games which they gleefully had to tell me all about the next morning. David has declared the hunt for this book on ebay to be his new quest. Something about the game “BuckBuck” —dunno. I think Jan had a great time too. So here are the photos:
. This is David in full loaf position. No internet!!
.Me in a similar position, actually reading something frivolous.
. The happy jolly family all bundled up.
It looks like it’s the middle of the night or an impending blizzard or something, but it was sunny, so dunno what’s going on here. It’s kind of a cool looking photo, though.
A close-up of one of the pods that David and Kathryn explored. This is a multi-million dollar building project for a man&wife and their two grown daughters who each have kids.
The man&wife will live (not quite full time) in the centre pod and then when the daughters and families come up, they will each have a pod.
The craziest thing about these pods is that they have copper roofs! Man, the expense! They are separate because the Department of Natural Resources was concerned about the size of the footprint and the impact it would have on the dune (erosion etc), so they are separate but connected by decking. They have an immensely long driveway that leads to another copper covered garage in the woods and then another longlong walkway up to the pods. We know all this from scouting around in the woods and also from trespassing and running into the architecte who had to tell David and Kathryn Everything.
Some snowy beach photos. The “beach” was quite a bit wider than usual since it was basically ice and mini-bergs.
The other folks who came with us: Ruth and John Engbers and Kathryn Anderson in the background. Fun times!!
Jumping on the couch is so fun!
This photo is not from the cottage at all. This is this weekend when we set up the giant screen (cloth stapled to the wall) so that we could project the opening of the Olympics! Yay! This is prior to broadcast and Jan is astounded by the size of Cars, his favourite movie. That Lightning McQueen, he’s HUGE!!
Signs of spring?? Can you see the cardinal in the tree?
Well I think that brings us up to date. As you can see, we haven’t changed much, not even Jan. Little more weight on all of us, little more teeth on one of us, but pretty much the same. I hope we will do better at updating this in the near future.
