Nomo concert and Jan’s birthday
So, two exciting events this weekend. We had another in our Subkirke concert series. I don’t know if it is because of the time of year or because the concert-going public is fickle or maybe because somehow it didn’t get advertised as much as we thought it had…… Whatever the case, we only had about 30 people show up. This was very depressing. The last two concerts, which admittedly were bigger name bands, we had nearly 200. But the guys from the band were really really nice; they said they would rip up the cheque if need be, because of course we didn’t come close to breaking even. But we said no. It was a great concert; not really my kind of music – sort of a jazz rock thing going on – but it was “booty-shakin” music for sure. So here are a few pictures. The first is In Tall Buildings, the opening band.
The next picture is of the next band, Nomo, on stage. They got here that evening and said “we’re down a man.” And sure enough, there was one less person, but I don’t know why. So here they are playing away.
They ended the concert, as 2 bands have now, by going to the back so they could use the organ. The audience loved it of course.
You can see David in the background fiddling with the registration on the organ for Elliot (the lead for NOMO). Good old David, man of the hour, does everything. Here is another picture of them playing with the audience right around them. (Plus a strange interpretive dance in mid-flail by the guy in the red shirt. Or maybe he just has a really bad migraine).
The final picture here is of Jan opening the presents that Grandma and Grandpa brought as well as a couple from us. He is now in Thomas Tank Engine heaven. We are having a teeny party tonight so I might post another photo from that later.
So that is it for this weekend. We have the most insanely busy weekend ever coming up this coming weekend. May not survive. But if we post again, you’ll know we did.
