not so quiet weekend

I was about to say that his has been a quiet weekend, but Jan has been whining for the whole time.  I know I usually post about jolly things, but if I’m going to post more regularly, I’m afraid to say you have to take the good with the not-so-good.  We aren’t sure if he is just sore from this dog-bite experience or if he is sick of being in the house, or what.  But whining abounds.  He has decided naps are for weaklings apparently and has learned how to climb out over the gate.  So keeping him in for a nap is over, I guess. I wondered how much longer we had for this and here we are.

I am trying not to be whiny but I have barely moved from my chair because I have stomach flu.  However, there are several things to be thankful for:  1) I was completely confined to bed yesterday, but not today, so it could be worse.  2) Every other time I have had a serious stomach flu, (back in the day) I have taken penicillin which it turns out I am allergic to and consequently went temporarily insane.  No joking.  But this time I didn’t take it and so have retained my limited grasp on reality that I usually have.  So that’s great!  3) I can do laundry sitting down so I can get my major chore of the day done, sick or not.  4) I can also watch ND football sitting down so I can see them win (so far).  So lots of things are good even if I feel rotten.  I also have the prospect of either all of us going to Gabrielses’ for dinner, or just the boys which would mean a quiet house.  So that’s good too.

David is working away on the bar area of the family room.  Here is a photos of what is going on so far.  The bar fridge is pulled out from under the counter.

Apparently there is a lot to do:  slate on/as the countertop, wood back just like the fireplace, shelves, finish the fridge work. But it’s getting there.  Speaking of the fireplace, here is a photo of that.

It’s not as good a photo as it would be if I took it at night, but now’s when I have the time.  And I’m running out of battery so that’s all for now.
