Lots of photos 2
We have had soooooooooo much rain here that we are under a flood watch in the area. We took a walk by the river the other day and sure enough it is really really high. I mean, we are in no danger here in our house, that I know of, but it sure is a lot of rain. It’s also been disgustingly hot, but I’m sure that will settle down. I mean it can’t stay like this forever. But whatever we humans think of the weather, the flowers seem to absolutely love it. It seems like I only planted them a few weeks ago, and really, I think it was for the annuals. It’s the perennials that are going crazy. The annuals seem a bit stunned, actually. The first photo is of our dogwood that hasn’t really bloomed very well in the last couple of years. So we had to get a photo of it when it did bloom:
The next is of our columbines. Boy have they gone crazy this year. They have completely enveloped our coral bells which will have to be moved.
We have purple ones too but they were a bit smashed by all the rain.
Next are the Sweet Williams and the other dianthus. We have a huge amount of Sweet William that mostly hasn’t bloomed yet. Stay tuned for a glorious photo when it does. This is it so far:
Our irises often bloom, but never so many at once at this house and some for the first time ever:
The first two are Siberian irises, I think. Then, how about that dark one, eh? wow! Then the last two are from the old house and are still some of the nicest looking ones I’ve ever seen.
Next we have an assortment of flowers.
Mexican heather: Coleus, every bug’s favourite snack second only to our basil (which has been completely eaten away):
Our new-ish Hawthorne tree. I didn’t know it blooms:
One of our new Bleeding Hearts donated by a neighbour who was ripping out a flowerbed (can you believe?):
I don’t know what these are but I thought they were nifty looking so I bought them for pots:
So there you have it. I think that’s all of them. I didn’t take photos of the annuals because as I said, they are looking a little stunned and stunted. I hope it evens out and they can grow. I’m quite pleased with the perennials, but I hope it doesn’t always take a flood to get them looking like this.
