Fun with Mom and Pop & the first day of “school”

Here is what we have been doing lately.  David and Jan washed the Moto.  Of course this meant all things Moto had to be investigated.   From the helmet:

To sitting on the bike (it was on the centre stand, Grandmas, don’t worry):

And sitting on the bike with Papa and “going really fast” while not actually moving:

That was some quality Papa-Jan time.  I even got to ride on the Moto for the first time!  Fun times!

Jan and Mama painted.  Me: staining the wood cabinets in the laundry room (the NEVER ending laundry room).  Jan: masterpieces

Truly artistic, I tell you.

And finally, today was the long-awaited, much discussed first day of “school.”  Jan is going to a day-care/school three days a week.  He is so excited he could hardly stand it.  No breakfast was consumed.  The backpack was thoroughly packed.  Outfit with train ready and waiting.  New Disney Cars sleeping bag ready to go with name-tag.   As you can see, he looks truly distraught at the thought of being away from these congenial Parent-Child activities and of being with kids playing instead.  Oh no wait, he’s not upset in the slightest.  He can hardly wait to get out the door.

Post-Script for after First Day.  Jan came home with a note saying he did well.  Here he is describing how he did finger-painting and grinning about the day:

What you don’t see are the floods of tears shed because we made him go to bed for a very short “dodo” since he didn’t nap at school (so the note said).  I asked him what he did instead of napping and he said, “talked.”  Confirmation he is indeed a social child.
